Southern Wairarapa, in New Zealand, features a limestone formation called White Rock. This is sunset with the tide partly out. Out near Pauatahanui reserve is St Albans Church. Purched up on a hill it makes a nice easy foreground element for star trail shots. This is an amalgum of five long exposures. Waihi Falls. A particularly large and nice waterfall found near the boundary of the Manawatu and Wairarapa regions of the North Island. The track down is a little sketchy but not too bad. This was taken towards the end of summer so represents the lower water flow state. Sunset near Castlepoint Lighthouse looking south at Castle Rock. This is a great beach spot with frequently good surf waves coming through the rock gap into Deliverance cove. The 'castle' of Castlepoint this giant rock dominates the landscape above Deliverance Cove. A frequent holiday spot for surfers and fishers. The classic Kapiti Island shot at sunset, taken from the Paekakariki lookout point. Kapiti itself is a bird reserve these days having been rendered predator free offering a haven for rarer bird species away from rats and stoats. Te Horo Bearch is up the Kapiti Coast area of Wellington region. The beach here is a gentle gradient with fine sand and it isn't at all unusual to have breaktaking sunsets like this. Traveling from Stratford east along the forgotten world highway yields this view looking east to Mt Ruapheu. This is a rugged chunk of the North Island that offers a remote beauty for the slightly more intrepid traveller. Watching a fresh deposit of snow on Mr Ruapehu from the town of Waiouru. Milky way seen over the Hooker Valley area in the South Island. Looking at Mount Cook over Lake Pukaki with the night sky reflecting. The light seen in the image is a car's headlights coming down the access road from Tasman Valley towards the lake. New Zealand's highest mountain - Mount Cook. Seen during the day with a strong wind carrying cloud off to the east, The dark night sky of the Tekapo Dark Sky reserve seen over the iconic Church of the Good Shepherd. The Large Magellanic cloud is easily visible. Cathedral Cove - a very famous beach and cave in the Coromandel region of New Zealand. Fine sand and good east facing views make this an amazing spot to see a sunrise. Kayakers come along the coast to Cathedral Cove beach in the early morning light. Auckland city after fireworks. This was taken just after the Rugby World Cup opening fireworks display had occurred in 2011. Searchlights had been put on top of various buildings to add to the display.
